SHORT EXPLANATION
Treble Crochet (DC)
The treble crochet stitch (abbreviated as "tr" or "trc") is a tall and open stitch in crochet and creates height in your project.
Step 1: Make Foundation Chain. (Start by making a slip knot and crocheting a foundation chain of the desired length.)
Step 2: Yarn Over Twice. (YO by wrapping the yarn over your crochet hook TWICE. This is one of the key differences between the treble crochet and shorter stitches like the single and double crochet.)
Step 3: Insert Hook. (Insert your crochet hook into the fourth chain from the hook. Alternatively, if your pattern specifies a different starting point, follow the pattern instructions.)
Step 4: Yarn Over and Pull Up a Loop. (YO again and pull up a loop through the stitch. You should now have 4 loops on your hook.)
Step 5: YO Pull Through Two Loops. (YO and pull it through the first two loops on your hook - 3 loops left on your hook.)
Step 6: YO and Pull Through Two Loops. (YO again and pull it through the next two loops on your hook - 2 loops left on your hook.)
Step 7: YO and Pull Through Two Loops. (YO once more and pull it through the final two loops on your hook. This completes one treble crochet stitch.)
Step 8: Repeat. (Continue to YO twice, insert hook, YO, pull through two loops, YO, pull through two loops, YO, pull through two loops to crochet treble crochet stitches across the row.)
Step 9: Turning Chain. (Once you reach the end of the row, chain four (ch 4) and turn your work. This turning chain serves as the starting point for the next row of treble crochet stitches. Some patterns may call for a different number of turning chains, so always follow the pattern instructions.)
Step 10: Start Next Row. (Insert hook in first stitch of the previous row, which is the stitch right below the turning chain. Then, repeat the process of YO twice, insert hook, YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through two loops, and YO, pull through two loops to crochet treble crochet stitches across the row.)
Step 11: Repeat: (Steps 8 and 9 for each subsequent row, chaining three at the end of each row and turning your work before starting the next row.)
