Single Crochet (SC)
Single crochet (sc) is one of the most basic and versatile crochet stitches. It creates a dense and sturdy fabric, making it suitable for a wide range of projects.
Step 1: Make a Foundation Chain. (Start by making a slip knot and crocheting a foundation chain of the desired length. The number of chains should match the width of your project.)
Step 2: Insert Hook. (Once you have your foundation chain, insert your crochet hook into the second chain from the hook. This is your starting point for the single crochet stitch.)
Step 3: Yarn Over and Pull Up a Loop. (YO by wrapping the yarn around your hook from back to front. Then, insert your hook into the designated chain, yarn over again, and pull up a loop through the chain. You should now have two loops on your hook.)
Step 4: Yarn Over and Pull Through Both Loops. (YO once more and pull it through both loops on your hook. This completes one single crochet stitch. You should now have only one loop left on your hook.)
Tips:
*Maintain consistent tension throughout your work for an even fabric.
*Count your stitches regularly to ensure accuracy.
*Practice the stitch on a swatch before incorporating it into a larger project.
