There is a version of Japan that lives not in galleries or design studios but in the hands of people who have always made things. Akiko Iwaki is one of them. Growing up in Tohoku surrounded by knitters, sewers, and builders, she absorbed craft as a way of life long before she understood it as an art form. Today, with needles in hand and a notebook full of ideas, she is finding her own way to keep that world alive.
