SHORT EXPLANATION
Single Crochet in Back Loop Only
The single crochet stitch (abbreviated as "sc") is one of the foundational stitches in crochet. Crocheting in the back loop only (abbreviated as "BLO") is a technique that involves working stitches into only one of the two loops at the top of a crochet stitch.
Step 1: Make Foundation Chain. (Start by making a slip knot and crocheting a foundation chain of the desired length.)
ROW 1
Step 2: Insert hook in 2nd chain from hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops on hook. Repeat from single crochet stitch for entire row. Chain 1 and turn.
ROW 2
Step 3: Start in first stitch, insert hook in Back Loop Only (BLO). (To crochet in BLO, locate the two loops at the top of the stitch you just made. One loop is closer to you (=the front loop), and the other loop is farther from you (=the back loop). Insert your hook under the back loop only of the next stitch.
YO and pull up a loop, so you have two loops on your hook.
YO again and pull through both loops on your hook to complete the single crochet stitch in the back loop only.)
Repeat Row 2 until project is finished.
