SHORT EXPLANATION
Waffle Stitch
The crochet waffle stitch is a textured stitch pattern that creates a raised, grid-like fabric with a unique texture resembling a waffle. It's characterised by alternating front post double crochet (FPdc) and regular double crochet (dc) stitches.
Start with foundation chain. (Multiple of 3.)
ROW 1 (wrong side)
Chain 2. (This counts as the first stitch). Insert hook in 2nd chain from hook, work a Double Crochet = DC into this chain and into each remaining chain until end.
ROW 2 (right side)
Chain 2. Yarn Over and insert hook in 2nd stitch from hook *work 1 FPDC in this second stitch, then a DC in next stitch, then a DC in next stitch.* Repeat from ** across until last two stitches remain: work 1 FPDC, work 1 DC.
ROW 3 (right side)
Chain 2. Yarn Over and insert hook in 2nd stitch from hook *work 1 DC in this second stitch, then a FPDC in next stitch, then a FPDC in next stitch.* Repeat from ** across until last two stitches remain: work 1 DC, work 1 DC.
Repeat rows 2 - 3 until work is finished.
