Festivals.

Every year, the same field. The same people. Somehow, never the same trip.

There is a moment, usually ten minutes in, when the noise and the color and the smell of it all lands at once. Wool from three continents. Indie dyers whose Instagram you've followed for two years. A colorway called something like "November Storm" that you absolutely do not need and will absolutely be taking home.

You could have ordered all of it online. You didn't come for the yarn.

You came because your people are here. The ones who understand why you have opinions about needle tips. The ones you only see once a year, in this field, in this particular light, and somehow pick up exactly where you left off.

Craft fairs are not shopping trips. They are reunions with a marketplace attached. Find yours. Put it in the calendar now. The good hotels go fast.

"You can't touch it through a screen. That's the whole point.”
