Not Meditation.

Knitting Is Not Meditation.

And That's Fine.

Somewhere along the way, knitting got rebranded as the new yoga. Calming. Restorative. A gentle hobby for people who need to slow down. And while we appreciate the good press, something gets lost in that story.

Because knitting is also a serious craft. One that rewards you, gradually and genuinely, the more you put into it. The calm that experienced makers feel is not the craft being easy. It is the craft becoming familiar. There is a difference. One is a shortcut. The other is something you build, stitch by stitch, over time.

Everyone starts at the beginning. The needles feel awkward. The tension is uneven. That is not failure, that is the craft doing its job: giving you somewhere to grow into.

"It gets easier. Then it gets interesting. Then you can't imagine stopping."
